Music at Heritage

Music with Ms Thompson

Music is often called a universal language and has the ability to aide in the development of motor, language, intellectual and social-emotional skills.

At Heritage Learning Center, I create fun and high quality music experiences to help the students prepare for kindergarten and beyond.

My music classes include:

- incorporating academic concepts in a cross curricular way

- teaching songs through singing and movement to increase their ability to understand the meaning of the lyrics and commit them to memory

- letting students experience music concepts like steady beat, melodic direction, vibrations, etc., by playing musical instruments and moving to music

 In the faith-based setting of Heritage Learning Center, I also use music to teach Bible stories and Christian principles in an age appropriate and fun way, both in the classroom and with Ms. Vickie at children's chapel.

My favorite part about being a music teacher is seeing their smiling faces walk in the music room door and hearing them singing or telling their grown-ups about what they learned in music on they way out.
